"Hit Kirkwood today — only one run open via Chair 5 at the moment. Snow conditions could definitely be better; it was a bit icy toward the top, and coverage was thin in some spots. But honestly, can’t complain too much given the early-season conditions and the fact that Mother Nature hasn’t been very cooperative this year. Will definitely be back during peak season to explore more of what Kirkwood has to offer. Looking forward to seeing the mountain when..."

"Kirkwood is one of my favorite Tahoe area resorts, they usually get better snow conditions and they are pretty dog friendly. They are on Epic pass for skiing, but Vail Resorts clearly doesn’t want to invest here. All the runs we ended up riding were old style lifts. No express on backside is pretty sad. Also kinda out of the way. We stayed at Kirkwood once with some VRBO, but it’s dead at night. We stay in Jackson or South..."

"With limited snow fall this season, its best to get up there at opening which is 9am, come lunch time the snow is slushy. The runs are well groomed. Perfect place for a day trip from the bay area or valley. Staff is super friendly and helpful, especially Stacy from S.Lake! Good food on the mountain as well, pricey of course, but not outrageous"

"Kirkwood takes about 10-15 minutes longer to get to from Sacramento then the other resorts, but this seems to classify it as remote. Keeps the crowds smaller. Roads are mostly 2 lanes to get there so you could get stuck behind some slow traffic, but there's a good number of passing areas. There is a parking reservation system during peak periods (weekends and mornings) for the closer lots, but there was no issue on a mid-day weekday when I went...."

"Great mountain! So much room on every trail and great conditions. A bit of a learning curve from East coast snow but views you'll see nowhere else!"

"I’ve been to Kirkwood many times. It’s a great resort. It is geared a bit more toward intermediate or advanced riders IMO but thats fine with me I got rental equipment and the operation was smooth and professional."

"Stopped by Kirkwood to get in an autumn hike. While the drive from Sacramento was both beautiful and fun, it unfortunately rained the whole duration of our visit to Kirkwood. With that being said, we were only able to get 40 to 45 minutes of hiking in sticking mainly to the Snowkirk trail out and back. As we made our way across the trail I did notice that the terrain at the top of the mountain off the Wall lift..."

"Great place for beginners, amazing staff — but some cleanliness issues We had a wonderful experience at Kirkwood Mountain Resort, especially as beginners. The staff here are seriously some of the nicest we’ve ever encountered. They were incredibly patient and supportive — slowing down the ski lifts for beginners, checking on us when we fell, and even helping us stand back up. That level of care really made us feel safe and welcomed. The Bunny run is perfect for beginners..."
